Full-stack Design
I leverage my experience as an Oxford educated biochemist and cell biologist, a team lead and a data scientist to design solutions for startups and academics. I consider the inventory management, manual handling and or automation, digital recording and reporting to help you stand up a high performance pipeline.
Personal
Having been through the cycle of process automation multiple times in multiple roles, I can help to weave specific and appropriate processes into the fabric of your organisation to ensure adoption and appreciation. Automation and digitisation must empower operators in your company the way 96-well plates and multichannel pipettes do.
My own work frequently started and ended with cell samples stored under liquid nitrogen.

Case Studies
A QR code labelled deep 96-well plate on a thermomixer.
Testing the plate seal for detergent compatibility: Gaps were left between detergent wells to check for cross contamination at high rpm mixing.
LC-MS tubing: To allow coupled monitoring of our samples by refractive index detector (RID) and mass spec, we introduced a T-junction that split the sample flow to each detector.
HPLC Solvents: Digital tracking of HPLC solvent bottles and the buffers produced made our quality control process easier.
DNA bands observed on an agarose gel: Proper storage of data captured during the process of generating DNA constructs can provide confidence and accelerate troubleshooting.
A 96-well tissue culture plate, manually labelled to indicate wells containing clones of interest. This old method is slow and risks manual errors. Wells of interest for a barcoded plate can be tracked via the microscope software.
